The Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation has for the first time appointed a tribal member as president and CEO of Foxwoods Resort and Casino.

Jason Guyot, who has been with the casino since 2003, has been the interim CEO since last April, leading the casino through the pandemic. Foxwoods is celebrating its 30th anniversary next year.

“What Jason has done over the past twelve months has been remarkable, taking the helm of Foxwoods at the onset of the pandemic, building safety guidelines from the ground up to ensure guests feel safe, and championing a new kind of culture for our team members,” said Rodney Butler, chairman of the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation, in a prepared release.

Guyot (pictured above) started at the casino as employment and diversity manager, working his way through various senior roles. He oversaw the expansion and opening efforts for the Fox Tower in 2008 before becoming senior vice president of resort operations, according to the release. The company said he was also instrumental in transforming the casino from being “game centric” to a resort that offered “experienced-based developments,” including HighFlyer Zipline at Foxwoods and MONZA World-Class Indoor Karting.

Guyot sits on the board of directors for Connecticut Special Olympics and Connecticut’s Tourism Advisory Council. He lives in Stonington with his wife and daughter.
