State environmental and transportation officials recently visited a national podcast to discuss what Connecticut is doing to achieve its climate goals.
State Department of Energy and Environmental Protection Commissioner Katie Scharf Dykes and Department of Transportation Deputy Commissioner Garrett Eucalitto stopped by to discuss their collaboration with host Bernie Wagenblast for the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials’ ETAP Podcast.
Dykes and Eucalitto discuss both the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative and the Transportation and Climate Initiative (TCI-P), through which states hope to reduce emissions and gain revenue to put into related programs. Officials said they hope to raise more than $1 billion in funding between 2023 and 2032 to put back into transportation options.
The state has set a goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions to at least 45% below 2001 levels by 2030, and 80% below 2001 levels by 2050.
