Mary Glassman will be a senior advisor to Gov. Ned Lamont, according to a Friday email from Chief of Staff Paul Mounds. She will manage the Office of Constituent Services, which includes duties associated with Connecticut’s COVID-19 response, Mounds wrote.
Glassman also will oversee the Joint Information Center, which was set up to help assist members of the public with information during the pandemic, and will provide input on policy and outreach matters. Glassman is a former first selectwoman in Simsbury, and most recently worked for the Capitol Region Education Council, according to the email. In 2018 she hoped to win the democratic nomination for the 5th Congressional District seat, but was defeated by 2016 Teacher of the Year Jahana Hayes.
Assistant State Comptroller Michelle Gilman will join the Governor’s office as deputy chief operating officer, according to Mounds. Gilman will work on the state’s COVID-19 response alongside Josh Geballe, Lamont’s Chief Operations Officer and Department of Administrative Services Commissioner.
Lora Rae Anderson will be a new addition to the Communications Office. She will oversee communications for the chief operating officer and coordinate outreach efforts with state agencies, according to the email. Anderson was director of communications at the Department of Consumer Protection.
